off the air
An Evening Of Live Independent Music
by Greg Edwards
The virgin voyage of OFF THE AIR - An Evening Of Live Independent Music was a smash (200+ heads)! Luckily, for those of you who didn't get the chance to crash the party last week, Andrew and I are back at it again! On Wednesday, April 27 the sophomore showing of OFF THE AIR is going down at The Fat Cat and promises to be another memorable night to blog good stuff about til the dawn breaks or your head starts hurting from a lack of sleep and hours of staring at a computer screen.
The line-up will include a pair of LA acts (Space MTN, Monsters Are Waiting), a couple of Fresno acts (Rademacher, Bel and the Dragon), and a cherry-red-hot Modesto band (Duncan Booth) to top off this hot fudge sundae. We really hope to see everyone's beautiful face out again. If you were there last Monday we can't begin to tell you how thankful we are for your support. In addition, we hope that everyone understands that this scenea and these shows are just as much yours as mine and Andrew's (OFF THE AIR PRODUCTIONS).
Our ultimate goal is to create a place where everyone feels welcome, accepted, and a part of the good stuff that happens inside the city limits of the town where they lay their heads at night. Moreover, through doing these shows we hope to inspire others to take up the torch and run with it. Lighting fields of dead brush on fire, ma
king the sleepers notice us, and getting respect for the art we do and love. And there is room at the table for everyone. We have no problem sharing this split pea soup. In fact, take the whole pot. The store is in the backyards of our minds, filled with tons of other ideas as to how to make Modesto better. And for the bored who're looking for something worthwhile to do with their time, we have jobs for you at this non-monetary-profit institution. In fact, here's my home phone number (209.571.8506). All's you gotta do is call, confess your love for Modesto, ask to be down and we'll put your gorgeous ass to work.
